Heavy erosion to paper stock pump
Problem:
Paper stock was causing heavy erosion in the pump volute causing it to wear out on an average every 16 weeks.
The Arnolds Solution:
Rebuild Pump Volute with ARC 897 which is a highly reinforced, beaded ceramic composite for areas of severe abrasion. Overcoat with ARC 855 which is a brush-able resurfacing composite, ideal for fluid flow.
Method:
Shot blast impeller to SA 2.5 cleanliness and measured profile of 102 microns. Wash down with Chesterton 204 solvent cleaner. Mask flanges. Apply ARC 897 and ARC 855 to manufacturer’s recommendations. Remove masking and clean using abrasive disk.
Benefit:
Pump body was put back into production and had a service life of 48 weeks, a 300% increase.
