Extensive corrosion to Power Station water box
Problem:
Extensive corrosion to flanges and baffle of a water box exposed to sea water.
The Arnolds Solution:
Cut out corroded section and weld in a new steel plate. The item was then shot blasted to ISO G2.5 and had a profile of 101 microns. The water box was then inspected for cracks and flaws. ARC 897 was used to fill pits and large holes and protect vulnerable areas from erosion and corrosion. ARC 855 Black and ARC 855 Grey were then over coated to provide extra protection against corrosion and erosion.
Benefit:
The cost of repair was 48% of the cost of a new item.
