Damage to stainless steel impeller
Problem:
A pump impeller’s bore, keyway and wear ring had been badly damaged due to a missing impeller nut. New impeller delivery was 4-6 weeks.
The Arnolds Solution:
The impeller was bored out to accept a newly turned sleeve which was then welded into position. The weld was then machined to the original specification and a keyway was cut and the wearing turned down to remove imperfections. A new volute wearing was manufactured to suit the impeller wear ring. Finally the impeller was rebalanced to ISO grade G2.5.
The impeller was returned to the customer in 3 working days.
Benefit:
The impeller machining cost was 55 % of a new item.
