Problem:

A Pump Suction Flare was taken out of service to repair corrosion and erosion  damage.

The Arnolds Solution:

To rebuild the surface with ARC 858 Ceramic composite, a coating designed specifically for rebuilding this kind of damage. Subsequent application of ARC 855 - a ‘brushable’ resurfacing composite for erosion and corrosion control.

Method:

The flare was shot blasted to SA 2.5 cleanliness with a profile of 111 microns.  The flare was then inspected for cracks and flaws. The item was then solvent  washed with Chesterton 204, a flammable solvent which leaves no residue.

Chesterton ARC 858 was then applied to fill the large pit marks and finally ARC 855 Grey and Black was applied to protect the surface from corrosion and  improve appearance.

Benefit:

Repair was 40% of the cost of a new item.
