Abrasion and erosion damage to reservoir pump impeller
Problem:
Abrasion and erosion damage to impeller vanes.
The Arnolds Solution:
Use ARC 858 to rebuild worn areas. Undercoat with ARC 855 Grey which is a brush-able resurfacing composite. Top coat with ARC 855 Black which provides a high gloss ceramic surface with unrivaled resistance to erosion-corrosion.
Method:
The impeller was shot blasted then inspected for cracks and flaws. The impeller was re-blasted to SA 2.5 and measured profile was 99 microns. The item was then solvent washed with Chesterton 204 non flammable solvent which leaves no residue. The worn vane sections were coated with ARC 858 to combat the high erosion seen in these areas. The impeller was the given 1 coat of ARC 855 Grey and was then dynamically balanced to ISO G2.5. Finally it was flash blasted and coated ARC 855 Black.
